RKF was founded in late 2012 by Jahangir Khan in memory of his mother, Rukhsana, who passed away from terminal cancer. Having grown up in north east London to two hard-working parents who sometimes struggled to put food on the table, reports that local people were facing food insecurity spoke to Jahangir.

 

His mother had always preached that if good comes to you, you should reach out and share your success with others. Jahangir decided that the perfect way to celebrate the life of his mother was to launch the Rukhsana Khan Foundation with the mission to help local families access food.

 

The first initiative of the organisation was to launch Walthamstow’s first food bank in 2013, but the foundation also plans to launch summer lunch clubs for local children and breakfast clubs for the elderly and vulnerable. You can help us launch these programmes by making a donation today.
